What Is An Employee Time Cost Calculator?

This tool converts an annual salary into what an employee actually costs per hour, day, week, and month. It is the base number behind every labor cost decision — from staffing plans to deciding whether a manual process is worth automating.

How The Calculation Works

  1. Hourly cost = annual salary ÷ (working hours per week × 52 weeks).
  2. Daily cost = hourly cost × (hours per week ÷ 5 working days).
  3. Weekly cost = hourly cost × hours per week.
  4. Monthly cost = weekly cost × 4.33 (average weeks per month).

Worked Example

An employee earning $52,000/year working 40 hours/week costs approximately $25/hour, $200/day, $1,000/week, and $4,330/month. If that employee spends 8 hours a week on a task an automation could handle, that's about $10,400/year in labor cost tied up in a single repetitive process — a strong candidate for automation.
